Keeping Safe at the Coliseum

We fully support anyone who wishes to continue to wear a face covering whilst visiting the Coliseum. We provide free hand sanitiser and hand washing facilities throughout the building. If you have forgotten your mask please ask at Reception.
We maintain high levels of cleanliness throughout the building and fully ventilate our theatre with our fresh air system. We continue to check ventilation levels with CO2 monitors and follow all relevant government guidance.

Support for local groups
Whitby Area Development Trust provides support for local not for profit groups with practical advice, partnership working and referrals. For further details and an informal chat please contact: Tel 01947 825000 or email us.

Internet Café
Call in to the computer hub at the Coliseum for free computer support and advice from staff and volunteers. Open Monday – Friday 10 am – 4 pm.
Wi-fi available throughout the building for use with your own devices.
Scanning, faxing, photocopying, quality colour printing and laminating available – charges apply.

Community Space Room Hire
Available for hire by local groups and charities with a range of offices, meeting rooms and 90 seat theatre. Available on a sessional basis, long term let or by tenancy agreement. Group catering available to book in advance for community space hire.

The Coliseum Tea Rooms

Now open on a Tuesday & Wednesday every week 9.30am to 2.30pm. Serving delicious baked treats, cakes, snacks and light lunches. Hot and cold drinks available. Fully licensed. Everyone is welcome.

Friends of the Coliseum Lunch Club every Wednesday served from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Just for Whitby residents. Bring ID showing your home address if you are attending for the first time.
Delicious, home cooked and freshly prepared. 2 courses for £6.50

Friends of the Coliseum Christmas Lunch at £10 per person for 2 courses on Wednesday 10th & 17th December 2025 served between 12 noon and 2 pm. Advance booking essential. Call the Coliseum 01947 825000.

Supported Volunteer Placements
There are a number of supported volunteer placements in the Community Tea Rooms for people 16+ years. If you have not been in work, training or education for some time and are looking for a friendly welcoming environment to learn new skills and build confidence then please get in touch as we may be able to help.

Accessibility

  • Drop off area for cars or taxis in front of the Coliseum. We regret there is no public parking available on Victoria Place.
  • Customers and service users may park mobility scooters on paving next to Coliseum front entrance.
  • Accessible ramp to automatic front doors.
  • Level access from front door to the Reception, Book Corner, Café, Internet Café, Theatre and accessible toilet.
  • Passenger lift access to the first floor.
  • Accessible toilet on first floor.
  • Designated wheelchair spaces available in the theatre and next to a seat for your companion on request. Front row level access available for many shows on request.

Assistance Dogs are welcome to stay with you in the theatre auditorium, meeting rooms or cafes.
